About Woven

The moments you capture. Made into memories.

Thanks to smartphones, it’s never been easier for us to capture moments from our lives. But as we capture more of those moments, our most precious memories too often get lost in the digital junkyards that are our photo and video libraries. Special images of our children and touching videos of our families are forgotten amongst endless photos of meals, screenshots of social media posts, and images that have little meaning to us.

Unfortunately, this leaves us with no way to revisit these special moments from our lives and no meaningful record of our children’s formative years to someday pass on to them.

The Woven app fixes this by enabling you to easily turn the moments you capture on your phone into powerful memories by adding your voice, your stories, and your emotion, and then linking those memories to timelines associated with your individual children.

So the best memories won’t get lost and can live on forever.

What Is Woven?

Woven is an app that allows you to take pictures and videos from your photo library and add an audio recording of your own voice telling the story of those special moments. Your voice, your stories, your emotion. After you’ve recorded your audio, you can name the memory and add them to timelines that you’ve created for your child or children. The memories are automatically aligned in chronological order from when you originally captured the moment so that you and your children can access these timelines and relive their childhoods.

Simple

Woven is simple to use. Access your photo libraries via the app, push the record button, tell the story, and attach the memory to your child’s personal timeline. All in five to seven touches on your phone. A memory that lives forever in under a minute.

Secure

No A.I. No social media. No public posts. No likes or followers. No advertisements. Woven is personal by design and all the memories you create are fully encrypted from the moment they’re created. Safe for your children. Safe for your family. Secure by design.

Timeless

While pictures are worth a thousand words, there is nothing like hearing a parent’s voice and perspective as they tell the stories of your childhood. Unlike printed photo albums that can get lost, damaged, or forgotten in basements and attics, Woven’s rich multimedia memories are timeless, easily-accessible, and offer an unmatched level of relevance to our children, who are growing up in an increasingly-digital age.

Introduction to Beta Testing

Our Beta testers will be the first to use the Woven app to turn the moments they’ve captured into rich and emotional memories that can be handed down to their children. Beta testers play an integral role in the development of any app, as feedback and ideas provided by testers ensures the app will best meet the needs of those it has been designed for.

This testing is designed to test only the core functions of the app. The look and feel of the app will change significantly to give it a more polished feel before we launch it. For now, we are focused on function alone. While the app is designed to be simple and we will not bog it down with features, there will be some additional features added that are not in the current version. We will discuss these with you at the end of the testing period. The app is designed to be very simple and intuitive, but user guides are available on this site if needed.

The Woven Beta testing will launch in mid-August and last 4 to 6 weeks. Rather than have testers fill out online surveys, we will be conducting short interviews with participants- one between weeks 1 & 3 and another at the end of the testing period. We thank you in advance for your participation and candor.

Beta Testing Checklist

Day 1

Review the introduction email you received on how to download and install the Woven app via TestFlight.
Install the app.
Watch the video tutorial that provides an overview of how to use the Woven app.
Take a look at our best practices and suggestions for using the Woven app.

Week 1

Create at least one timeline…but feel free to create one for each child you have.
Record an Audio-only memory, name the memory, and add it to a timeline, or multiple timelines if you prefer.
Create a Photo + Audio memory, telling the story of an image that captures a special moment that you think your child will always treasure. Name the memory and add it to a timeline.
Create a Video memory. (Note: At this time, audio cannot be added to video memories as Woven will use the audio that is already embedded in the video). Name the memory and add it to a timeline.
Set up Reminders, which will help you remember to review your recent photos and videos for inclusion in your Woven timelines.

End of Week 1

Check your email, where you’ll receive details on how to schedule a phone call with a Woven team member to provide your initial thoughts and feedback.

Weeks 2-6

Continue to use the Woven app.

Week 6

Best Practices

Be Authentic

Don’t worry about being perfect or making every audio recording sound like a powerful speech. The magic of Woven comes from being authentic- years from now, your grown child won’t care if you said “ummm” or “uhhhh” or even stumbled through a story- they want to hear your voice in exactly the way they remember it.

Use Reminders

This is a new routine you’re incorporating into your life, so of course it helps to have occasional reminders to review your recent photos and videos for potential inclusion in the Woven app. Set up reminders for a time when you know you’ll have some time to revisit special moments, at a frequency that works for you.

Develop a Nightly Routine

Some parents we know love to look back through photos and videos at night. If this is part of your regular routine, consider using this time to not only review those moments but to turn them into memories using the Woven app.

Develop a Weekly Routine

Set some time aside once a week to look back at the past week and identify those moments that are worth turning into memories. With 10-15 minutes per week, you can begin creating a powerful record of your child’s formative years.

Make a Woven Album

Create a “Woven” album in your photo library and begin saving photos and videos to it when you look through your library. When you have more time on your hands, use the Woven app to start adding these moments from your Woven album into the app and to your children’s timelines.

Don’t Rely on Photos Alone

Did your child say something funny on the care ride home from school? Do they have trouble pronouncing a word? Do they say something special to you every night at bed? These are the small things that make our children uniquely them and not all those moments are captured by photos or videos. Record those little tidbits and stories with our audio-only feature.
